Print Save Become a Fan
Just cause I have a crusty kitchen,
It don't mean I don't have good hair.
Just cause my skin is ashy black,
now that really isn't fair.
I know she's checking out my edges,
yeah, they're a little crusty too!
I ain't had the money to buy relaxer,
Oh well, it's moot.'
I once did the natural do,
and I even grew me some dreads.
My mama said: "That's why no one ain't gon hire you!.
But damn, ain't it MY crusty head!
I'm more than the texture of my hair,
or the shade of my dark skin.
The problem with you people,
is you fail to look within.
I am not a hollow soul,
blood flows through my veins too.
I come from earth, I shit and I bleed,
the last I heard, you did too.
So please, somebody, anybody,
won't you take a chance on me.
Cause I really need a goddam job,
don't make me beg or plead!
