Loyalty versus Devotion

LOYALTY VS. DEVOTION Should prime allegiance be to God or king, to nations or to constitutions? My fellow traveler, such questions only fools would ask. Loyalty unquestioned is the servant's lot, a virtue grown eons ago by tyrants, kings and jealous gods to feed their greed and fame. Loyal minions, soldiers, underlings were crucial to a ruler's quest for power and control. To cries of war they rallied, deluded in their rage to fight for God, for country right or wrong, for honor, liberty and peace. They gave their lives but saved the flag – enslavement won. It's best to heed the Bard's advice, "to thine own self be true ." That's where your loyalty should aim. Be steadfast in your quest for truth, for wisdom, logic, justice, love, true freedom, inner peace. Creation stands alone, above all else. Revere It and the spirit that gives life. And learn to live in harmony with nature's timeless laws . Let principles like these be guiding stars that light your way. Let other folks, the pious and self-righteous, babble their prayer and their pledge to flags. ____________ "There is no eye equal to wisdom, No darkness equal to ignorance, No power equal to the power of the spirit, No terror equal to the poverty of consciousness." Well written and thought provoking. Regarding your bio, I must agree with your general opinion of organized religion...of whatsoever denomination or belief. Truth comes from the master of Truth and only can come from within. ~~Love in Christ, Bonnie Q

There are wars in every aspect of life, yes even where Mother Nature is involved. Survival is part of life, and you will find most men/women will fight for it if pushed in a corner, no matter what their thoughts on other wars are/were. All in all a great write! ~SH~

I do so agree with the others here. You nailed this! Catch 22 of emotions! --This line: "with nature's timeless laws" .... liked that as weel as the rest of it....it stood out to me. It made the reader feel ant think about all of those laws :)

Thanks,

Teresa

Some wars have to be fought. The one hardest to win is the one inside yourself.

Well-said!One should be loyal to himself, his beliefs, and his sense of justice. But the key point is to have a 'self' with enlightened conviction and natural conscience. Most people are born WITHOUT one!
