Humans just don't understand

BLANCA'S SONG
I'm snoozing in the daytime,
But at night I'm counting sheep –
Restless, roving in and out,
So you won't get to sleep.
I rub my rump against the couch.
Scratch, scratch! There is a flea.
I shake that furry winter coat
And roll around with glee.
I'm shedding on the carpet,
And go romping down the stairs.
Soon you won’t see the floor no more
For white and woolly hairs.
When I get under foot too much,
You yell and chase me out.
Black nose against the window pane,
I sadly drool and pout.
I'm goosing all your house guests,
As they're coming in the door.
And I howl with great excitement,
As I piddle on the floor.
But I will be your loyal friend,
If you just can be kind.
My love is unconditional,
The purest you can find.

| It is a constant and seemingly impossible task to put into words the value of the unique relationships that exist between humans and their pets, especially with dogs. My hat is off to all of you who attempt the impossible. My life would be significantly diminished without my dogs. Thanks for sharing. |

| This is captivating and delicious. Fluid and rhythmical and witty. As charming a piece as I have ever read in this genre. |
