Thinking Out Loud

THINKING OUT LOUD

When no one even is about
Some folks express their thoughts out loud;
A habit of the lonely sage,
Of one who's far advanced in age?

We view this conduct highly strange
When others are in hearing range.
The mumbling, introverted dude
Quite likely is considered rude.

Then there are certain folks of late
Who, when alone, pontificate,
Scold or advise an unseen friend.
They've surely gone around the bend.

Yet people of the weirdest kind
Will soundly quarrel with their mind.
Alas, their anger's poorly spent
When they don't win the argument.

The elderly, who often walk that fine line between this three-dimensional reality and the next, are frequently heard muttering to themselves and routinely adjudged senile, when they are actually communing with that greatest of cosmic forces... A very nice verse, indeed.
