when will we raise a voice
make a choice?
use our vote?
help the homeless
and disadvantaged?

we gotta do something
don’t stand by as victims
and don’t let our human kindness
drift away in river of
lazy excuses

we got to show the children
who look up to us
as people who morals
are more than BET videos,
and who wore the best dress
at the various award shows

take a stand
for human kindness
hold your community up
and stop letting violence take over
our streets

assist the police
instead of keeping secrets
in hearts that are afraid to beat

we got to stand up
or our voices will never carry
they will never be heard
they will be drown in the neighborhood
as another child
is taken away
and our village becomes more barren

we must make a stand
use your hands
to hand out flyers
encouraging the village
to become involved
and no longer
accept muteness as
a choice

is standing up
for their rights
