Dear Mom and Dad,
I’m getting used to
this divorce. Are you?
Thanks for all the things you’ve done
for me. Hey Dad, can you teach
me how to change my hamsters
food? Hey Mom, do you want
me to start picking up
my clothes? I will now
start doing those things.
From O’Brien
and
it floated into my reach from nowhere
a piece of paper that caught my eye
a sentiment from a child
that has captured my heart
Dear O’Brien,
I’m glad that you are getting used to
this divorce, you are a brave
and courageous person.
I know sometimes when things change
when they are different
it’s hard to get used to,
but you do and you will.
I see that your Mom and Dad love you
that is always the most important thing.
I see that you want to
help
somehow
make it easier
by learning how to take care
of
your hamster
by promising to pick up your clothes
your heart surely will not go unnoticed.
Dear O’Brien thank you
for bringing me
a glimpse of your heart
your words on paper floating in the wind
may you dear one
be blessed
may
the smudges of life
never
mar your incredible beauty
and may you
know love
true and strong
all the days of your life.
