Tiny Whisper Tick

I have a present for you
sit here
this is something my mom
gave to me
I was about five
she said it wasn't expensive
but
I kept it all these years
I want you to have it
and
he opened a little plastic box
ornate dusty cream and lovely
pulled out a watch
held it arms length
and I saw
the memory on his face
all the memories of seeing
this timepiece
packing it here and there
waiting for the wrist that would
cherish
understand
how cool it is
does it work
maybe and we wind
and I put it next to my ear
and hear the tiny whisper tick
the whir of wakeup life
in the tiny coils within
how cool is that
all these years packed and carted
saved for me
a present for me
careful appreciative boy of five
my husband
do you really like it
do I really like it
wow
how could I not?
how indeed could I not?

How, indeed. What a wonderful nostalgic write. Enjoyed this much, thank you.
