I love the way the phrase 'Ancient Rites, Guilty Feelings' expands in the mind as the reader gathers so many examples from Past learned in a lifetime that clarify and haunt with inevitable, while rabid-wild in the current happening, slated fate! Leaves a wry smile on the face with the thinking...

There is absolutely nothing to be guilty about! I know of nothing that is more honest than two people finding rest and comfort in each other's arms. Even if it's only once. Excellent write Ian. Lisa

Ian, Ian, Ian, sigh.. the last two lines of the 2nd verse blew me down.. I was all set to go all mushy over those here.. then I kept reading.. more lines... more clever, freshly expressed lines, setting this apart from the many poems with this theme.. still reading... still sighing... ok. Reading is done... and I'm left with one last gasp: This is a damned fine poem, me dear Ian. It could so easily have slid into trite. Far, far from it. Great stuff! katy xox.
