He asked me to move in
So, I took the next boat smokin’ and moved
To the once deserted island
Of his heart
And when I arrived, he received me
With leis of kisses around my neck
For me - he will battle Kings
So, for him - this song I will sing
“Yes, you are my man and to me, you Is Land”
He feeds the masses
Of my many facets
For the seed of the land
He has cried the heavens a sea
And every living thing around us
Roams free
Then he built us a castle from bamboo trees
To shelter the fruit we planted in kind
And reap what we teach with each sun set and rise
He took salt water y’all and made Kool-Aid
And took that and pressed a sweet Beaujolais
Whoever said “no man is an island” hasn’t met my man
My stretch of sand
Whose strong arms
Shade like tall palms
From the worlds roasting
And celebratory toasting
Of my ability to survive outside -My man
His wisdom feeds like milk from coconut trees
That sway their leaves like when he dances with me
Whoever said “No man is an island” HAS NOT met my man
Because to me, for me, in spite of me, and because of me
He
Is
Land

| This was an outstanding piece. Especially at the wedding reception in which Ms. Stewart performed. |
