Lonely Spirit

Alone I walk a world so dead_

Sins atonement forced to be.

Screaming words inside my head_

For torturous company.

Blackened hills to east and west_

Barren landscape all.

Lonely spirit walks abreast_

Waiting for my Master’s call.

No door to open wide upon_

No invitations issued forth.

Weary trudging on and on_

Cold wind blowing from the north.

Desolate peak of mountaintop_

Bones picked clean by buzzard’s gore.

Lonely spirit here must stop_

Above the desert floor.

Curling into fetal shape_

Crying now beneath grey skies.

Ragged clothes around me drape_

No life here abides.

Master, hear my ardent pleas_

Remove me from this morbid place.

I beg for my release_

Have mercy for my lack of faith.

You've expressed the subconscious conversation many have with their particular "Ruling Spirit"...

Those conversations continue to travel through space searching for a "listener" for eternity. You've captured one and placed it here for all to read. Thank you.

Elizabeth Melton Parsons-- How can anyone with such a beautiful, melodic name write verses with such feelings of unbearable aloneness, pleading for release?

You captured the agony of loneliness completely, Elizabeth. As a sensitive human soul, I want to rush to your side to comfort you, to assure you that things will be better, that things can and do change, that you do have a future filled with wonder and love.

Wow! You really get to me.
Strong imagery, powerful phrasing.
A great write, Elizabeth.
Now, for your next poem let's try Disneyland at night!

Love to you,
Richard
