My eldest daughter Morrigan changed the formatting of this poem for me. She never was one for "traditional" systems of writing. So this poem is for Morrigan. xoxox

My consciousness floats

Above its alertness

I am awake

The pain of this skin

Wears thin

Supporting life in frail bone

Longing to t -o- u- c- h

Some one opposed to

Some dream I have held

Since clinging to

A warm womb

Where all dreams are born

I sit in silence

Waiting for but a sound

Of my heart beating

I am alone

As my heart f

Beautifully written and formed Amira! Your daughter has good taste;-) I did a couple similar some time back. It really enhances certain types of poems as it did this one.

Intense rendering of an intense moment, somewhat like a slow-motion rupture in time. Thanks for sharing such a great poem.

Usually don't care for the gimmick poetry, but in this case I found that it added somewhat to the feel and mood of the poem, which was/is quite good in itself.
