If this day is to bring a celebration
Of a life lived
That which gave others existence
What becomes of the day
When their absence brings pain
Too great to bear?

When this day is shattered
And the pieces fall like rain
Against memories of time lost
Radiate the truth
He will never be back

What do you do to celebrate
Eternal loss of the one love
The one who gave all
Just so that you could even be?

Say a prayer for the man
Whose heart was strong
And soul lives on
Through this day and all to come
Through those and all around you

I wrote this on Fathers Day...the second one without my Father. Time doesn't always heal the wounds, but they do get easier to cope with.
