Amazed

Not having written a sonnet is quite some time, I will admit to being very rusty and I know the 'iambs' in this couplet sonnet are not quite right.. but in this case, the content of the piece means more than the iambs. When asked about what I am missing due to my lack of sight, without hesitation I reply 'not a thing...I 'see' what he paints for me'
I do hope you enjoy!

Amazed

I breathed of morn, embraced a rising sun
Inhaled the scent of night, journey now done.
I listened as each fleeing star escaped
Slipping behind horizon's shadowed drape.
I tasted dew, its dampened sweetness fair
Its freshness pure and just beyond compare.
I touched the sky with my thoughts, quietly,
For once again I felt so blessed to see
This beauty born, this joy He had composed
In colors of rhyme and in songs of prose.
Deftly written across each timeless page
Of nature and life, and of youth and age.
As I watched, 'seeing' with near-sightless gaze,
I was humbled, honored, and still amazed.

This is an "Ahhh!" poem. Serene, content and appreciating all you are and have, instead of bemoaning your fate. Beautiful!
