------------------------------------

So much rides

on the clutch

of a paltry string.

The balloon

engorged

red-flushed

thin-skinned,

anxious

to flee the

banalities

of a verdant earth,

to traverse

the azure and

pillowed sky,

ah yes--

to fly.

Visual and expressive in so few words. A great write! Brings to mind the emotions and tone of the classic award-winning 1956 French short-film entitled "Le Ballon rouge" (The Red Balloon") I grew up in the sixties and I think every kid must have seen the film in school. It holds its own today.
Anyway, Thanks for the write. Enjoyed.
