A Warm Summer Night

It seems that some parts of the world suffer from floods. Right now our area would gladly accept a small portion of those rains to bring life back to our area. Now it is dark. However, I know the Master will send rain.

A Warm Summer Night

I lay in bed on the verge of sleep one night

A warm summer breeze flowing through the window.

Just as I was ready to doze off there came a flash of light

And the sky gave out a mighty rumble of thunder.

Then in the mist of this I heard the pitter of raindrops upon the glass.

They quickly spread across the ground asunder

Bringing life to the grass which as brown a brass.

I crawled out of my bed and watched the rain fall

At first it was soft but soon came in sheets driven by the wind.

It was now not pitter patting but pounding on my window and outside the wall

Again the lightning lit up the sky with flashes and streaks of majestic light.

Now I could feel the raindrops upon my face for the wind was driving it inside and out.

I didn’t bother to close the window though the rain was falling on everything in sight.

I had been praying for rain and now it was here, an answer from God I have no doubt.

There was music from the trees and the flowers, the grass and the ground

As if praising God for the rain, what a wondrous sound.

They say into each life a little rain must fall

This is true and if it did not what would happen to us all?

Good one, Lew! Great poetry!

I was carrying buckets of water to the trellises by our shed, and as I poured it into the parched ground, a zillion insects - creeping, crawling, flying - emerged......usually, I don't care much for them to be around me, but this time I backed up and said, "Ah LORD, they are your creation, too, and they were thirsty..."

When we live for the LORD, in the Spirit, everything we do serves His purpose...even if we are not actively aware of it, amen?

Bless you, Rhonda

Lew, I'm sure glad you folks got some rain down there to cool things off a bit. But it's not much longer now before fall sets in and after that the coldest time of all. I would think the worse is over! That's some photo of the lightening...Wow! All the same, I enjoyed the poem very much.

God Bless
Lena

Lew,

Hot summer nights, even hot-ter summer days...enough, already! Way below normal in terms of precip...perhaps relief will come for both of us, I hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent poem.

(((HUGS)))) and love, Karla.

Lew~

You sure you aren't in Texas?? We are cryin' for rain too, and cooler temps! LOL Very well done; hope the dry spell ends soon (but without the flooding! That would NOT be good!)

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)
