All would live long, but none would be old. Benjamin Franklin

When I was just a little lad
Not fully appreciative of the life I had
I wished for one thing above all other
To grow up and one day leave father and mother
And one day I would cleave to my loving wife
I cared not that this might come with cares and strife
I wished for the time when I controlled my life
Oh, how wonderfully naive this young boy stayed
Energetic and full of spirit as he ran and played
Now I am no longer young and full of vivacity
My eyes grow dim and I squint to see
My joints grow stiff and my muscles ache
I carefully watch the ground as each step I take
Whereas I once was carefree, young and bold
Now I am worn-out, tired and old
I have weathered many years of cares and strife
Yet I feel blessed by God to have had this life
The love I’ve known, for I have fathered three
Three wonderful gifts to my wife and me
Growing old is no great price to pay for the many joys I’ve known
Holding each child born and being there as they’ve matured and grown
I pray only that when God calls me to Heaven’s shores
He allows those memories to pass with me through Heaven’s doors
Take a moment and Enjoy

I am sure You will be welcomed at heavens gate, Lew. As far as our age goes praise GOD we can still function even in some pain. Another winner for You.

Yet I feel blessed by God to have had this life

Blessed, indeed, are those who know they are blessed.
