The robin snow

We got an unexpected snow last night; my parents called this a robin snow. It can put down an inch or two overnight and usually melts away by the end of the next day. It inspired this write.

It came to us last night, a robin snow
One last burst of winter before it lets go
The sky is blue with no clouds in sight
I see no sign at all of birds in flight
The temperature is rising, melting the snow
As quickly as it fell last night it will also go
I gaze out my window watching a gentle breeze
It playfully blows melting snow from the trees
The snow now drips in drops of water to the ground
Other than the wind blowing and water dripping there is little sound
I have seen many seasons as they come and go
I’ve watched the wind, rain and snow
Each plays a part in the cycle of life in all its glory
Each plays a part in a wonderful story

I've been waiting for my robins to return, but no sign of them yet, just more snow.
