I loved this poem, I can tell you are a very serious man on the outside, but very sweet on the inside. The message you send to me.
Tattoos and drugs wont get you anywhere in life so stay strong and hold on tight.

Ron,
You must live in Arizona or at least have heard about our controversial bill. They say there will be no profiling....bull. You hit the nail on the head and it should be send to lame brain governor. Profiling is already going on. Thanks for this poem.

yes we do all do this Ronald! This is a good pondering post about self & awareness of oneself. You bring up good thoughts too as to why...our intuitions have a gut response to things & the energy of others.
Just as we love people, or feel at ease with someone new & we don't know why we feel like we do, we go with it cause it "feels" right...so when there is a negative gut feeling I think it deserves recognition. It is a very primal instinct. It is to hard to ignore it's importance even if we don't know why...and this is not to support the breeding of ignorances or anything like that or any instilled upbringing people have in racist thoughts or prejudices. Those sorts of things are not gut feelings, our gut feelings don't see stuff like that...

| Starbelly Sneeches - Dr. Suess. Ron, you have fleshed out the fine details of stereotyping and the presumptive nature of humans. You have illustrated how it becomes an imploding avalanche once launched and your implication of the harm done does not go unnoticed. I think your couplets have enveloped sensitivity, awareness, defensivenss, offensiveness and mushroom thinking based on the fear syndrome. i agree we all profile and we're ALL predjudiced not necessarily strictly each other's race,religion or skin color...admitted or not. i see each of us invite 'profiling' by the choices we make in visually projecting our image to the world...
personally i find it difficult to check my immediate reaction(profileing) to people covered in tatoos and piercings which indicates to me they have no regard for their own body and avast array of other implications or when i see someone unable to walk without using one hand to hold up the crotch of their pants indicating to me that more than likely this person does not support himself unless he has some sort of one-handed work or an across the board disrepect for every person...my butt in your face whether you want to see it or not.

Yes we all do it. So many first impression factors to choose from. It also a shame when we profile we often look for the negative rather than the good of what we see and apply it to the personality. Very thought provoking write, very in touch with reality.
