The holiday cookies are made

Chocolate chip and sitting prettys

Kranz from Germany with a hint of orange

And heavenly dream bars from my grandmother’s kitchen

Nut balls so great with morning tea or coffee

Sugar cookies rolled out by my granddaughter’s hand

Adorned every one in colored sugar and bright shiny sprinkles

In the shapes of animals, enough to fill Noah’s ark

The tree is trimmed, horse angel on top

A wreath hangs on the door, and the welcome mat’s out

Presents are wrapped and packed in with the cookies

And sent off to loved ones from Oregon To Pennsylvania

With all these traditions, I am left to ponder

That it is funny how wishes and desires

Have changed from days of yore

When all this child could think of was that one special toy

And now I just want to have some peace

In the knowledge that my gifts made with love

Brought smiles to some hearts, and joy to some souls

And that these times of celebration

Are truly about life’s deepest connections

So real and so true. I think the best Christmas present I had this year was being Santa at the Mall, it was a true love awakening for the season all over again. All the best to you and your family...

The Man Who Saved Christmas by Jeff Ovall

Christmas - only days away; plastic snowmen and glowing reindeer adorn the lawns of neighborhoods all across America. All is calm, all is bright, and yet there is something tragic..
