The holiday cookies are made


Chocolate chip and sitting prettys


Kranz from Germany with a hint of orange


And heavenly dream bars from my grandmother’s kitchen


 


Nut balls so great with morning tea or coffee


Sugar cookies rolled out by my granddaughter’s hand


Adorned every one in colored sugar and bright shiny sprinkles


In the shapes of animals, enough to fill Noah’s ark


 


The tree is trimmed, horse angel on top


A wreath hangs on the door, and the welcome mat’s out


Presents are wrapped and packed in with the cookies


And sent off to loved ones from Oregon To Pennsylvania


 


With all these traditions, I am left to ponder


That it is funny how wishes and desires


Have changed from days of yore


When all this child could think of was that one special toy


 


And now I just want to have some peace


In the knowledge that my gifts made with love


Brought smiles to some hearts, and joy to some souls


And that these times of celebration


 


Are truly about life’s deepest connections

So real and so true. I think the best Christmas present I had this year was being Santa at the Mall, it was a true love awakening for the season all over again. All the best to you and your family...
