For a distraught friend ...Panda :)

Dark lessons were learned
though the choice was not mine,
quantifying existence for faults
developed over seasons of time;
ones I thought had blossomed
but to dismay, it was just withering vine.

Such black torment in cruelty
and only via introspective views
did I see the black swan turn white,
then in reality understood I'd paid my dues.
Rosy idealism had stolen my passion
Never honest, there was no bright maverick in review.

For a poppy I searched far and wide,
the symbol of hope to sooth my pain.
With only resolve, grit and spirit
could I now stand and say never again
The reality that we had only soothed ego
fell hard and nearly drove me insane.

But I learned I am woman
standing strong in that right;
being free from bleak chains
that had blinded insight.
Be brave little lost swan and fly high  -
strong and magnificent - soar now - up and into the light.

This is captivating Panda, the swan is always the eptomie of the ugly duckling who hurt and tested in the end comes out at the top of her game and this poem expresses that probability so well. I love this one.
