Simple, unguarded
soliloquy
pondered briefly
amidst distraction—
(pause)
Words fall
out of place
ceasing, wondering
of import.
(inhale)
Parked, unquoted
statements
left bare
amongst the unrequited—
dreaded silence
permeates the air.
(silence)
hand sweat beneath
a calm visage . . .
waiting for reaction.
Impromptu gesture
garners applause.
(exhale)
Composure regained
The room quiets again
as the next toast begins.

I love this one and the little cues given between verses as if we are all a part of a mini play of immense drama. Well done, a good format for you.

Beautifully written my friend, powerful imagery within the lines allows the reader to visualize the setting as well as feel the emotions within. Enjoyed this much! Well done!
