The Best Friend

She whispers in my ear,
Of all the secrets I've died to hear.
We stayed up all night into the early hours,
discussing our dreams and hopes that our futures
longed for.

She laughed at all my jokes, even if they weren't funny.
During times I was nervous or scared, there she stood, holding my hand, with a funny grin on her face to ease away my fright.

In times of sickness,
She understood my pain.

When life was down,
She'd raise the clouds and yell at the sun to shine.
She had her style, grace, and her addiction to clothes and shoes.
Chasing boys was her sport--

Yet became a sad ending for the best friend.
For one day, she was to be married and a secret fight had flared that was unknown to me.
Our friendship became invisible and she had hidden herself into the night.

Sometimes I still die to hear her secrets, hopes,
and dreams.

One day, she will come out of hiding.
