Just a short poem...

You'll think you're strong
While you're yelled at
And tears dry on your lips
Which you bite in fear
Coward! Do not cry
Crying is weak, as is rage or love
Calness is strong, pitilessness yet better
You're ten, pretend you're forty.

You'll think you're smart
As you talk about life
In the throes of incomplete wisdom
BE SILENT FOOL!
Have you lived?
No, you're still waiting to be borne
Stay quiet and mesh with the shadow that follows you
You're 20, pretend your 100.

You'll think they can see you
That you're in a cage
Or strapped in a chair
With some virtual reality system drilled to your head
You'll not see but be wary
Knowing that they're watching you
From the walls and the mirrors
Judging you as you seek to escape them.

You'll talk and they'll hear
You'll cry and they'll see
Be strong little girl
Cynical and Cruel
Merciless and your own fighter
Let none hold you down
You're Young…pretend you're immortal.
