No prancing hoofs of vigilant deer,
nor frisky puppy paws,
have yet defiled the purity of the virgin snow;
no stealthy step of prowling cat,
delicately lifting nimble feet
as he dances silently in the night,
seeking a sheltered place to shake
intrusive flakes from his satiny slippers.
When the light of day washes
over the landscape,
blending with the lustrous sheen
of diamond-sprinkled snow,
time will awaken the necessity
of clearing a path,
shoveling a driveway,
digging out a parking spot.
As we doggedly battle the elements,
striving for the privilege
of waging another day's
struggle for significance,
we'll trudge through drifts,
bemoaning the inconvenience befallen
on a world of men and women
as driven as this midwinter's snowfall.
But for now,
in this pre-dawn scene
of iridescent splendor,
revel in the treasure of the snow
as it reminds us of a day yet to come,
when all things will be made new,
and life with God will bring unending,
unblemished delight
to those who dwell with Him.
"The city does not need the sun or moon
to shine on it,
for the glory of God gives it light,
and the Lamb is its lamp.....
Nothing impure will ever enter it,
nor will anyone who does
what is shameful or deceitful,
but only those whose names are written
in the Lamb's book of life."
(Revelation 21:23 & 27 NIV)
The Revelation of Jesus Christ is the final book of the Bible. The Lamb refers to Jesus Christ.
The question we all need to ask of God:
Is my name written in the Lamb's book of life?
If you are not sure that your name is written there, ask one of the Christians on Authors' Den. You know who they are. Any one of them would be honored to help you in your spiritual quest.
