The Pristine Delight of This Snowy Night

"Have you entered into the treasures of the snow?" God asked of the man Job.

Perhaps He gave us the purity and shining beauty of the snow to remind us of Himself in His glory, and of the beauty of the city where He will live with His people in eternity.

No prancing hoofs of vigilant deer,
nor frisky puppy paws,
have yet defiled the purity of the virgin snow;
no stealthy step of prowling cat,
delicately lifting nimble feet
as he dances silently in the night,
seeking a sheltered place to shake
intrusive flakes from his satiny slippers.

When the light of day washes
over the landscape,
blending with the lustrous sheen
of diamond-sprinkled snow,
time will awaken the necessity
of clearing a path,
shoveling a driveway,
digging out a parking spot.

As we doggedly battle the elements,
striving for the privilege
of waging another day's
struggle for significance,
we'll trudge through drifts,
bemoaning the inconvenience befallen
on a world of men and women
as driven as this midwinter's snowfall.

But for now,
in this pre-dawn scene
of iridescent splendor,
revel in the treasure of the snow
as it reminds us of a day yet to come,
when all things will be made new,
and life with God will bring unending,
unblemished delight
to those who dwell with Him.

"The city does not need the sun or moon
 to shine on it,
for the glory of God gives it light,
and the Lamb is its lamp.....
Nothing impure will ever enter it,
 nor will anyone who does
 what is shameful or deceitful,
but only those whose names are written
in the Lamb's book of life."

(Revelation 21:23 & 27 NIV)

The Revelation of Jesus Christ is the final book of the Bible.  The Lamb refers to Jesus Christ.

The question we all need to ask of God:
Is my name written in the Lamb's book of life?

If you are not sure that your name is written there, ask one of the Christians on Authors' Den.  You know who they are.  Any one of them would be honored to help you in your spiritual quest.

Wonderful, picturesque, totally engaging in poetic description it takes me there! Truly the Light of this world does not come from the One Who gave all for us to have unending Light. What delightful peace He brings! Thank you so much I am so blessed by this poem!

A great poem Connie. I'm glad I stoped by to read it today. I had forgotten how beautiful it was to look out a frosted window pane an dsee the cold powdery whitness across the land.....M

Connie, this is lovely and a perfect time to read it as I watch large flakes blowing haphazardly outside my widow bringing me yet another foot or more of snow.

A beautiful poem to start the morning. Here in the south we are awaiting the first snow of the season. So beautiful and pure when it is falling. It does amaze me how at night the glow from the snow lights up everything. A true inspiration and testament of your love for the Lord. May God bless you every day of your life.

Beautiful. The virgin snow reminds me of the child born of a virgin. The one who came to cleanse us all.
God bless,
Lew

You amaze me. This is absolutely beautiful. And, I am always thrilled to see people who are not afraid to express their beliefs. A lot of people never say a word and keep it to themselves.

Symbolically meaningful, your verses have awakened memories within me. Truly untouched, freshly-fallen snow is indeed a pleasure to behold and you have added to it what it may signify for the open mind and spirit. Thank you, Connie. Love and best wishes,

Regis
