How To Be A Daddy

Lord, I'm coming to You tonight to kneel down and pray.
You see, I'm gonna' be a daddy and I just don't know the way.

I never had a dad myself, least, not one that I knew.
Mama told me he left her broke ~  she said I should turn to You.

Lord, show me how to be the father of a precious little lad,
'Cause I'm afraid I'll miss the mark ~ Show me how to be a dad.

My Mama, she tried to do it all ~ to be Mom and Dad to me,
But she didn't know what makes boys cry, and she never climbed a tree.

You've helped me, Lord, my whole life through like Mama said You would.
She said You'd give me wisdom, Lord, so I would turn out good.

Now it's my time to lead a boy in the way that he should go;
I'll teach him he can turn to You, 'cause that's the way I know.

I'll tell him You are always near and Your promises are true ;
Mama was right  ~ You never failed ~ when her needy boy called on You.

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
