Sugarplum was sabotaged by a tick. The tick preventative I faithfully applied didn't keep them away from her, and she contracted Lyme Disease.
I never dreamed this energetic, fun-loving little friend would have to be put down at just 5 years of age.
CONSIDER GETTING A LYME-PREVENTING SHOT FOR YOUR PETS THIS YEAR! I don't know about the rest of the country, but Ticks are prevalent in Eastern PA.
How recently you looked my way,
Straining to see the one you loved.....
But darkness was the path ahead,
Its grasping jaws condemning
You, so tired from the loathsome ills
That wrought gauntness
To your weakened body.
Please eat, my friend,
And drink your fill --
I crave your greeting when I come home,
Your body's warmth, your silky fur.
Let me help you find your way
So we can heal together.
How frightening it must have been,
Each obstacle another fear to haunt you.
My little buddy,
One last ride
Till peace is yours again,
The peace that never ends.....
Sleep well, my little friend.

|So very sorry for your great loss Connie, and may your little Sugarplum live on in your heart forever.
There was a time when ticks were just a nuisance, and we and our pets didn't get sick from them. But sadly, things have changed for the worse. Even the mosquitoes can be quite deadly now. I give all of my pets monthly tick and heartworm preventatives, but I also worry as well.
