  A MAN TODAY.

I MET A MAN TODAY.

HIS FACE WAS FILLED WITH SORROW

I BEGGED FOR HIM AWHILE TO STAY

BUT ALL HE WANTED WAS BREAD TO BORROW.

HE’D WALK A SLOW AND PAINFUL WALK.

I REACHED OUT A HAND TO LEND.

NO WORDS WERE SPOKEN, BUT HIS EYES DID TALK.

THIS MAN WHO HAD NOTHING TO SPEND.

HE TURNED AND WIPED A TEAR FROM HIS FACE

AND I KNEW THIS COULD BE HIS FINAL RACE.

I WANTED TO SHOW HOW MUCH I CARED,

BECAUSE THERE WAS LITTLE ELSE WE SHARED.

I CRIED A TEAR AND HUGGED HIM DEAR.

THANKS I HEARD HIM SAY.

I KNEW I BECAME A MAN TODAY.
