There Was A Time.
There was a time when she was beauty and grace.
She loved a man, but was afraid of his space.
So much intelligence there was a need to protect.
Hoping in time he’ll care and respect.
Wishes, there were a few she hoped would be granted.
Because there was no part of his anger she wanted.
Lies! All lies were the daily screams.
Abused and shattered were her dreams.
How long, how wrong, where is the dignity?
A broken promise there can be no honesty.
The heart breaks again and trust slips away.
And to deceive though by innocence the heart does stray.
A plea, is there a chance of forgiveness?
The scars will heal but what of the emptiness.
A promise made her wishes he’ll respect
To keep his promise her love he did accept
No fear of his heart being taken
There was a time when his love was not forsaken.
