Weekends In New England

Love, romance, innocence, intrigue, danger, and lust. Life is complicated, and love even more so. Life, and love, can be hazardous to a lady's health. Especially if she's..

I sat there half listening to the chatter

Swallowing the patio and cutting the peaceful night air

I rolled my eyes, this scene is all the same

The pizza, the drunks, the girls flashing smiles

And more if they've had enough

Just for a little bit of the spotlight, for a stranger's gawk

It's hollow out here in the halflight

The black metal chairs are a cold resting place

As weary eyes are filled with smoke

I don't know why, but I glanced to my left

Our eyes met, and I knew him in that instant

He sat silently picking the bones

I wanted to stroke his cheek, to quell

The haunted lonliness that poured over the edges of

His eyes that were soft, tearing through my walls

He looked like kindness that I miss as deserts cry for rain

But get by without it dryly sulking

This flash of soul, the sweetness of the honest gaze

That once in awhile lets down its guard

Only to walk alone a few moments later

Fading quietly on the horizon of the nights neon haze

This one to me is a very deep and riveting poem, it speaks volumes, but also reveals the discust we often feel in our own existence at times. The often dryness of life. Brings to light the things that used to entertain us but now we see it as a once temporary fix as it were to remove from us the pain of the mundaine, That no longer serves to bring us fulfillment only regret it would seem. Life here on earth needs CPR, it needs to be revived, it needs a fresh awakening a new beginning. We need to start anew.
