SHIG

Reflections, memories, past moments gone,

Nothing suffices the tangible beauty of who you were.

Though I'm not distraught any more,

I remain deeply sad,

I will never stop missing you.

Everyone goes on, time goes on. . .

But everything has changed without you.

You were more than you ever knew,

The world, your family and friends . . .

Left with the impact of all that you were.

Never a 'mere person' on this planet,

Unbeknownst to you, you were Atlas,

Simply balancing many of our worlds .

I smile as I think about that,

You thought yourself to be  'a mere guy.'

Every time you left, you were missed,

Leaving behind residuals of your sweet essence.

A most pleasant taste for having been with you...

Your subtle humor,

Your indelible smile,

Your never ending giving.

Your absence never went unnoticed.

I always knew you were more.

Sometimes I'd try to tell you of your significance,

Your humbleness couldn't hear my voice.

At the end, did you see the desperation ...

Of those who fought to hold on to you?

Sorry for awkwardness,

Sorry about the spoken words that didn't make sense.

Sorry for all of the touching,

Hands hoping to convey the messages of the heart,

Especially when our emotions choked us,

And words were meaningless and empty.

Did you see the tears from our loss?

Some would say that we are left with a grave,

Others, the endless memories of being with you.

But for me it is different . . .

You have not left me,

You live in my true sense of gratitude,

You made my world so much more,

I will always be filled with the wonderment of you.

I Love You.

Measured, very measured thoughts, mature with the realisation that the clock moves on and on..

Exceptional poem, L.K. Full of emotion without being overdone or sappy -- just pure love. It's wonderful that he left you with such lovely memories to hold onto.
Love,
CJ
