***My #5 poem w/2291 hits***

Every birth
A gift
A miracle.

Every child
Conceived
Special.

Travail to joy
Joy to happiness
Fed with mother's milk
Coos for attention
Hugged in her arms
So safe
No harm.

Such innocence
Not accountable
Nor responsible
Given by the Grace
Of God Almighty above
A child of love.

Enjoy
Every minute
As if it might be your last
They grow up so fast
You may blink
They're past
And you're just left to think
Reminisce
And miss
Why does God work like this?

***************************

The cradle now empty
The caboose uncoupled
You'ld think I'ld throw a party!
But why am I troubled?

Every birth
A gift
A miracle.

Every grandchild
Conceived
Now even more special.

I DO love the fuzziness I feel when your words tweek my nourishing instincts. Southerners know the depth of love is fathomless...especially that of parents and child.
Love... your redneck southern lady!

Douglas, a beautiful write so true...Before we realize it...they are gone in the blink of an eye...to someday experience exactly as the heart does who wrote this poem...the beautiful memories we come to miss so much.

9 grandchildren I have, and one great grandchild on the way. I have been waiting for this 3 years now, but it does seem a long while, it is only a dream away. I am to be greatgrandma in April or end March and now will be like my friends.

As a mother, I know how this feels. There are many wonderful things that I miss, but then, instead of missing them, I feel lucky for all the memories. And I look at her, growing stronger, becoming more independent, radiant and I'm proud of her, proud of us.

Well... grandchildren... that I don't know yet!

Lovely little strophe:
"Every birth
A gift
A miracle."

"Enjoy, Every minute, As if it might be your last, They grow up so fast..." how right you are with this wonderful composition Douglas. In wonderfully concise terms you have just conveyed all I feel and all I perceive as a mother...beautiful! Thank you. Panda :)
