A Prelude to an Intelligent Review

As I read

My imagination turned to you

That’s what it would take

A kind word or two

Just wouldn’t do

I needed to investigate you.

So I stumble through

What ends and begins with two

Two souls wed into one

That could never be torn apart

That would never break the other’s heart

At least, that’s what was vowed from the start.

What was I to do?

Impress you with an academic conversation

A prelude to a passing time

Within a world all rosy and fine

Where both would always wear a smile

And of course, run the extra mile.

As I thought

One mistake

Could make my world shatter

And what would matter

Some words I left behind

Who would read them ahead in time?

What could I do to wake you from your slumber?

What could you do to allow me to rest?

Drop bomb another test

Give you my best

and have nothing left

But a prelude to an intelligent review.

Your words are always worthy of an intelligent review...are the reviews always worthy of an intelligent response?

That is a mind boggling question on one hand...when to remain silent without wounding and when to speak...

Great title and a moving write Doug.

I don't want to appear dogmatic, because I do not know the writers true intention in composing this, but I get a distinct impression that this is a philosophical heart-cry that happens when marital bliss is put in the fires and tested. I get a strong sense too that this is a cathartic of sorts, a purging of pent up emotions, and also an earnest appeal for logical consideration and reasoning to whomever you are addressing your thoughts and questions to.

I enjoyed it, it's open and it's honest.
Well done! I hope all is well.
Blessings ...
