Agape Has To Be Let In

Just another day I suppose
I wish I could twitch my nose
Wiggle my toes
Crack a smile, who knows.

There the battle begins – when the sin shadows close in
The bruise  - always hurts the worse
The deepest cut - is always the first
In the driest desert -  there is a hunger and a thirst.

But Love has got to win
A hardened heart doesn’t know where to go  - nor where to begin
You can have all the faith in the world
Be filled with blessed hope my pretty girl.

Yet in the end, Love has got to win
It’s the source of all essence within
It comes in with a cool breeze as the wind
Yes in the end, Agape has to be let in
Sing it over and over again
Love has got to win

 *******

She hasn’t been the same since her daddy died
I say she’s happy - I’d say I lied
She wraps herself in cross stitching
Her masterpieces bewitching.

She’s overwhelmed
There’s so much to do
It takes two
She doesn’t know where to start
Broken is her heart
She keeps knitting together.

She’s always tired
Waits to be ignited or fired
She not out for hire
Each day gets dryer

Faith – grows fainter everyday
Grace – flows higher than yesterday.
Hope – Waits like blooms on a peach tree
Love – Is what she wants to see.
Not 25 years of ‘wanna be’ history.

Saved in cross stitched memory
That hangs on a wall
That waits to be taken down from the hall
Dusted off and placed in a box
Where only her heart keeps the key to the lock.

 *******

It’s the source of all essence within
A force greater than the universe given
The Doorway to the temple that dwells under your skin
Seals you from your fate from sin
Yes in the end, Agape has to be let in
Then and only then, does the battle begin
You decide who will win
And if you can see through the deception and lie
Like an eagle you will spread your wings and fly.

Fly away little sister, fly high past the sky.

Your poetry embraces me. I'm so alike this lost, fumbling babe myself...exhausted and ready to throw in the towel. Well said my good friend...tender is the heart.
