Assuming. . . . . .
I assume, she still must be hanging on
Hasn’t been called home
With your thoughts
You sit alone
Through the night
Till first break of light. . . . .
And then it starts all over again
Cool early morning breeze
Rustle through the leaves
Ducks on the pond
Seldom get along.
I assume, you anticipate another long stressful day
In the ICU maybe today
With your thoughts
You sit alone
Through all the day
Wishing good memories will stay
Lingering till someone comes to say. . . . . . . .
A hot sunny day has come your way
How long will it stay?
Birds of a feather
Flock together
I assume the worse
I should be praying
But it’s hard to pray for a miracle
When you need a million to come your way
With no guarantees that even one will stay
So you get up with your plastic smile
Maybe you’ll only have to be the strong one for a little while
Star filled night sky
Maybe a meteorite will fly by
Or even a comet
I’ll hold up your hand so you can grab its tail and wave goodbye.
Assuming - you can fly.
I don’t have to assume you know how to cry.
