This is a sequel to The Sandpiper...

My granddaughter cried

My grandaughter screamed

Sobbing, “turn around back to the sea”

She must know if the baby is meant to be

In moments we were there again

The baby laying on the sand, raised its head

They met in a rush of love

For all that is good and be as it should

The sandpiper made one chirpy sound

My granddaughter laughed and danced around

That’s what it took to save the sandpiper baby

And why a sandpiper now lives in Missouri
