Dear Lord...

I recently lost my Aunt Gussy and this is a make believe conversation with God...

Dear Lord…

Dear Lord, I regret to inform you
That Gertrude Gustava Swanson Kaut
Whom you claimed on September 16, 2010
Has been recalled.

A grievous error was found with that model. She had the
“I haven’t read all the books I wanted to” defect.
Kindly return her so that this defect can be corrected.

Oh, yes Lord, I know my request is pure selfishness.
I know her heart gave out, but her spirit never did nor her
Unconditional love, nor her quiet strength, nor her sense of
Humor, nor her ability to tell me when I was wrong.
Oh, I will see her again someday.
But Lord, that’s not the answer I wanted.

Yes, Lord I will work on being less selfish, less
Impertinent? What?  Less ungrateful?
But…less impatient? Less whining?
But how can I do all this without my Aunt Gussy?

This goes right to the heart, Liz. It's so hard to part and so hard to wait for sweet reunion. What if we did not have the memories to keep us warm? And God, to comfort our hurting hearts.
Love,
Connie

I love the tone, daring, ironic, funny, tragic... all of this at the same time. Great energy in this piece, Liz.

Liz,
I'm sorry about your Aunt Gussy. I like your format in this piece. It's somewhat playful, though the situation is a sad one. Love and hugs,

I don't believe your make believe. The minute you scribed it God knew, although he probably held the pen. I'm very sorry for your temporarily lost Aunt Gussy but your offering here made me smile a tiny bit. No offense intended. Patrick

sorry to hear about your aunt Liz, I lost both of my favorite aunts, but they both were just like your aunt, loving and strong, so I honor them by trying to be the same, you'll be just fine, very good honest verse in relation, take care

Sounds like you will miss her a lot,Liz! God's blessings of quick healing and ways to keep her in your thoughts while you adjust to her being gone,in body, but not in spirit!
