Broken child. The tears That scald your face Sear our souls, Make men, Strong men, Weep. If the hurt Could be waved away, The night Made safe, the world Made whole We would do anything Now, knowing. But you came to us In headlines And on the news, A broken child, An angel Cruelly smashed And we reach out as one Inept, though, We lack the artistry To make you whole again. Leslie P. This poem was written with such passion. Your words have touched my heart as you describe the children who may have been emotionally or physically abused. It is so true that we hear about it in the headlines, or news. Sometimes a child is so badly beaten physically or emotionally, that it is too late to fix, or by the time we hear about it, the child's life has a sad ending. It makes me think, do we all reach out enough if we know of abuse? What goes on in the mind of a person who abuses a child, who is so innocent, young and carefree?
This is a beautiful poem. Stop into my den when you have a chance. |

What a heartfelt write!! It's so sad to hear stories of children being broken in spirit/physical. How one person could even have a mere thought of hurting such innocence is waaaaaay beyond my comprehension! A sad but excellent work here!!
Smiles,
