Drugs rob us all!!!!

A small-frightened child was crying
She cradled a pink little doll in her arms
Her addict mother was about to be jailed
The demons of the needle had stolen her away
As I was about to turn to leave;
A small hand gently tugged at my uniform pants
A beautiful pair of big brown eyes stared up at me
Her lips were quivering uncontrollable
Her soft tiny voice made a request
"Mister, please don't take my mommy away"
My heart fell from my chest
Pain shot throughout the pit of my stomach
I agonized with this innocent child
My heart was completely shattered
My mind was combating thoughts of;
What if this was my baby
Pleading with a stranger to spare her mommy?
My eyes blurred with tears
Just as my lips were poised to speak;
Though I knew not what I would say;
I caught the eyes of her mother glaring at me
with a snide smirky grin perched upon her face
An evil spirit inside mom would have traded
her little one for another round of drug trips
I became enraged deep within my soul
A hate for her flooded my thoughts with revenge
Only the compassion for the little one forced
the insanity to race from my mind
I felt a love for this baby
that I had reserved for my own children
I wanted her to know the joy of a real family
This wonderful child loved with everything she knew
Yet I wondered if she would ever receive any in return
The world she lived in was full of pain
This picture burnt upon my heart
A little face with big tears
Some scars never heal
