A metaphoric poem from the book - Metaphorically Speaking Mostly

Crashing waves engulfed by the ocean,

driven by the winds perpetual force,

emerges a single granulated crystal,

viewed only through a suns reflection.

As it rests, idly waiting to come to life

exposing a resplendent sparkle, it is

suddenly concealed behind a mass

expressing yet a potential danger,

delivering torrential downpours.

Raging waves begin to roll, tumbling

as their strength and furry threatens to

subsequently diminish all in their path.

Mysteriously, the crystal finds a haven,

refuge, captured by the tides current

once again to blend amongst the others.

In anticipation, vivid, still gleaming,

the heat magnifies the brilliance, briefly

before inevitably returning its beauty

to an impassive blackness of the night

where it will remain dormant, until

that occasional spectrum of the moon

accompanies the stars in their entirety

penetrating even the darkest night,

delivering a new radiance to the crystal.

In the tranquility of its new surroundings

all remains calm, peaceful in that moment

and so shall the granulated crystal,

with its diamond like characteristics,

instinctively glistening over all others.
