 Scottish ruins in London fog
Canadian lakes under African skies
New England clouds on Columbian hills
The great northern lights over rivers in Maine

An entropic blur of mingled travels
As seen through the eyes of omnipresence
Ladders leaned on the walls of reason
Extremities stretched to infinity's edges

Ambience clipped by a modern world’s din
The messages sent from the realm of the spirit
Fairy notes float from arboreal depths
Inspiring the ears of the minstrels who hear it

A hushed summer stashed in an attic of gray
Rain-heavy clouds too many to count
Their bulk looming high over bones in the loch
The riders who've drowned on the wild Kelpie’s mount

Castles infracted from dynasties soured
Sentenced to sleep in a vine-woven mesh
Malice is summoned from woodland substratum
A canine design seeking unicorn flesh

Will-o-the-Wisp coaxes drifters at night
At home among oddities nature insisted
Insomnia’s trek combs the world’s other half
Unfathomed abode of species unlisted

From pillars of marble to well guarded gold
Great trials of life on a cavern wall etched
A sundial bathes in a day long forgotten
A day when humanity's limits were stretched

Deities reeking of inhuman likeness
Vented tombs welcoming starlight alone
Legends long buried with curses and jewels
And crystals displayed of peculiar tone

Stories return with the ships that find shore
Sailor minds maddened from journeys so long
Stories submit to the deep salty void
Sailor minds drunken on mermaid's sweet song

Unusual stops on detours of a dreamer
Phenomena shunned by the boldest of maps
Fiction and fact in a blasphemous truce
The globe at a glance and experience on tap

Brandon, what a great closing line: The globe at a glance
and experience on tap. From now on, I'm a Brandon Gene Petit fan.

Amazing. I'm speechless to have come across your poem. Vivid words you pen this day dear man. Takes me to another place in this late night hour of insomnia. Absolutely beautiful. Well Done! Deborah

this recalls a beautiful age old sonnet. .. .a trembling precipice of words and dreams and visions of what we could BE. . .
beautifully rendered.

This is stunning - one of the best pieces I've read. It will go under my "favorites" list. Love the imagination and creativity. Love the unique perspective. Love the word choices. Love the images. Great work. You might enjoy a poem of mine called 'A Soothsayer's Rune.'
