Daddy, Mama, I hid your picture
I did not allow anyone to see me
cry with your picture on my person for
the first time a democrat I would be.
I talked to you after a prayer
and then I voted for the first man
of color to ever have a chance to win
on the National Presidential scene.
If you were here you would
be glad, me voting democrat and
for an African American
Who won and is now president elect.
God took you home, but somehow
I believe when you went to vote with me
Life gave your seed new hope.
You have more grands, great grands
and great-great grand children.
We all love you, even those who
you never knew. We keep your name
on our tongues to express the love you
left behind. We teach Christ, they see
your love through Him.
Congratulations Mama, you worked
faithfully for your Democratic Party.
You knew, You Knew. Thanks Daddy
and Mama. We love you.
