Happy Birthday Mabel 07 Jan 1929 |

If I had known I would live this long
I would have taken better care of myself.
Stop spending money on me for such frivalous
things. My time isn't as long as it has been.
I hope you don't think you're taking me on
vacation or some theme park somewhere.
You remember the fun we use to have on Coney Island, Peg Leg Bates, CaroWinds, Myrtle Beach, and what about the places we did not know was off limit to our skin...best not to know.
Act like you belong, you'll find you'll have more fun
No debt is owed to me now. Forever as I have known you...it's been hard but I love you my sisters:
Anyhow,
Anyhow.
I approach 83 year on this planet. I've lived with love in my heart, love Jesus all my life.
I've made many friends, given many gifts, but I hope no heart was touched the way I hoped To show you to be like Jesus in my special way.
I sent you gifts from up the road 'cause
While searching through the racks of New York Styles I could see the beauty when you wear them to churchs, dramatics and school
I love Lou and Joy, Mabel

This is beautifully honest, Louisa,
and a baring of the soul, not just the poet's
but mine, too
