Isn't there a better way to settle disputes than war?
And if we think about it, maybe that's what Olympics are for.
Let's choose up sides, make some teams, settle world disputes,
Solve our problems at the source. Deal with them at the roots.
We could arrange to play a sport, but which one shall we choose?
'Twould be no contest in rhetoric, no way for a country's views
To be expressed, except through the skills and athletic prowess
Of its representatives. Worldly impact? One can only guess.
We can begin by selecting a sport, but must make sure it's balanced.
Weighted fairly, justly so that each nation can display its talents
Without being overmatched by some attribute less than skill.
American football between Peru and Japan would hardly fit the bill.
How in the world to choose the sport? What method shall we take?
To be completely fair to all, when so much is at stake.
It clearly couldn't be baseball, unknown outsides these shores,
Matchups would hardly be possible without unbalancing the scores.
How about basketball? It's truly an international sport,
But in matching Canada and Thailand, the Thais would come up short.
As seen, this is quite a problem from which we can't escape.
Its solution would be a major event and world decisions would shape.
Now, having come five verses, we'll slowly have to contend
We're no closer to a choice, as we rapidly approach our end.
A good idea, but choosing a sport has resulted in quite a chore.
Maybe we can decide the issue by having a little war?
