A grim reminder of yesterday,
The poppies grow on Flanders Field.
Their stems sprout from the souls’ decay
Of the world’s youth, we failed to shield.

Nourished by their rotting flesh
And watered with their seeping blood,
The poppies each year are refreshed
Lest we forget, what’s in the mud.
