I stepped alone along the sands of time
Never questioning where I was to go
Knowing others lived their lives
As I wandered to and fro.
Then one day it finally dawned on me
I was only ticking over time
I never really cared a lot
For another life but mine.
So then I looked and was horrified
By all the lives going to waste
At the hands of other people
And on hatred it seemed based.
“Why can’t man not love another?”
I asked myself in great distress
Altho’ we’re all born the same
Mankind is in such a mess!
Our children seem to acquire the hate
Before their cradles they do leave
Learning to fight and despise
And too often taught to grieve.
For the tears of our worlds children
Should show us the way to go
Before they collect into a river
And no-one can stem the flow!
