Among the many poems I wrote when I taught school, this was one I liked the most.

Today I thank you, Lord
For all the joys you bring;
For the children at my school,
For the songs they sing.

For help and guidance in my work
That comes from up above;
For all the young smiling faces
That fill my heart with love.

I thank you, Lord, for every day,
For the paths that I walk down;
For the many lives that I touch
Of the children all around.

I thank you for the goodness
And for your kindly grace;
For the miracles of your love
That puts smiles upon my face.

Bless all teachers great or weak,
And help those who fall short of being strong.
Teach them your loving kindly ways
So they will do no wrong

Absolutely beautiful, Jeanette.

I'm almost sorry you retired for there's no doubt in my mind whatsoever that you were a fabulous teacher whose only focus was the betterment of your children.

And now this great poem from the heart of one who has been there and who leads the way for others who follow.

Bless you, Jeanette. Your contribution is immeasurable.

I have always admired teachers. You mold their young minds and your teachings last them all their lives. Excellent poetry, Jeanette.
Your students are fortunate to have you.

Many blessings,
