Winter Sunshine

Winter is stretching out long this year
Its icy fingers sending out cold and chills
Turning grass and plants to winter brown
A period of time and change
fulfilling nature’s blessed seasonal thrill.

Today, this Monday, started out bright
With sunshine warming the thirty degree air
Warmth painted yellow o’er the earth
Creating a mellow glow heating the soil
Leaving the weather splendidly fair.

Bright beams shining through scattered trees
To light up every available open space
Blazing down lovely sunbeams of light
Heat and warmth from
That lovely bright round sun face.

My eyes are blinded by its brilliance
Which I think of as God’s smile at me
White teeth sparkling like trillions of diamonds
Glowing, sparkling, and dazzling
With energy and goodwill from Thee.

With God's smile on our side, Spring will be a blessing, indeed, Jeanette. Right now, while it is supposed to be a rainy day in SE Texas, I am listening to the birds chirp as I pound away at the keys on the keyboard. That's a sure enough sign of better days to come.

Thanks for sharing this imagery-filled poem.
