Bursting From the Sky
I love the rain
The startling burst of a flooding downpour
Breaking loose from the dark clouds above
Slashing through the dense atmosphere
Heavy and thick like white fog everywhere.
Beating against everything in its downward path,
Pelting the thirsty trees, limbs and shrubs
Soaking the parched grass and plants
Washing off the dusty driveway
As the rain keeps pouring down.
I love the rain at night time
Pelting down upon the roof
A steady beat like music to my ears
Akin to the roaring of the ocean
As the waves break against the shore.
As I lay there listening to the rain’s sweet tune
My eyes close in restful repose
And like a bird sailing through the skies
My entire body starts to doze
Into restful sleep
As the rain that I love
Keeps pouring down.
Yes, I love the rain,
The way the earth looks the morning after
When everything is lush and green
And lingering drops settle on green leaves and flower petals
And the grass is wet like early morning dew in spring.
I like the way it purifies the air
Leaving it clean, sweet, and easy to breathe
Fresh and cool,
Pleasant
After a pouring rain.
