For a Peaceful Heart

The Almighty is inside each of us
with the God-given choice
to use it or abuse it.

When we pray,
we pull strength from positive thought
 to depreciate negative energy fields
 that affect us personally.

Someone once said to me,
“People who lose their mind live longer,
because in contrast, an active mind, left untended,
is a deadly foe to one’s health.”

From that point of view,
if one guards his/her thoughts—
thus keeping decent, loving, caring, healthy thoughts—
as part of their program toward good health,
then it would serve as a natural medicinal.

Most folks are happiest
when actively busy in some endeavor
that keeps their mind from straying to negative thinking.
That is when they also feel strongest and healthiest.

Keeping such a mindset
can be attained through prayer
when trouble comes sneaking in like a thief
to disturb one’s physical health with illness.

Praying for knowledge, strength, and ability
 to achieve one’s goals,
will likely bring the best response,
as opposed to asking God
to provide the object of one’s prayers.

PRAYING TO GOD IS ALWAYS BENEFICIAL AND CERTAINLY IF WE LEARN TO TURN ALL OUR CONCERNS OVER TO 'HIM'- THIS WILL LEAVE US WITH TROUBLE FREE MINDS AND PRODUCE 'GOOD' ENERGY. BUT BEING TOTALLY HONEST...THIS IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE, HOWEVER IT IS DEFINITELY WHAT WE SHOULD 'STRIVE' TO DO. WELL WRITTEN AND ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS.

Dear Jeanette,
In reading the stanza about "Most folks are happiest when actively busy in some endeavor..." I couldn't help but take note that in addition to articles, poetry, and short stories posted on AD, you have 8 novels published and, in addition, talked just the other day about taking a long walk every day!

Of course, that brings to mind the old saying about "Practice what you preach." Well, Jeanette, I think we all had better heed your good advice 'cause it's sure working for you! You're active, involved, current, and in good health and good spirits. Now, I won't mention anything else except to sneak in the fact that you didn't just turn 21 yesterday, but one would never know it from your enthusiasm and lust for living.

Even your closing stanza points out the fine point of not asking God to do all the work but leaving us the opportunity to share the credit for our results.

Another wonderful offering of shared wisdom. Great job, Jeanette!

We don't always get what we ask for in prayer as the Lord knows what's good for us and yes keeping happy thoughts and not dwelling too long on the negative aspects of life for which there are plenty will help us live longer and be happier here on earth with a sound faith in God to guide us.
