All kidding aside, I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. It is well written, with great rhythm and descriptive imagery and it deals with one of...yes...me too...one of my favorite pastimes.
Outstanding work here, Joyce. |

| You've captured as sharp as an emotional and x-ray polaroid the side of our many selves that we would perhaps rather not disclose... even to ourselves. But people are far more perceptive than we think - even when not necessarily present face-to-face! It's so sad that we do play the masks game for so much of our public life, perhaps. And for whatever reason. I'm totally hopeless at it, but there you go... don't spose I shall ever be any different, but I can live with that! :)) Neat and compelling write, Joyce, thank you. Brilliant observations, Joyce. Facial expressions reveal a whole lot about the inner man indeed. It could be that they don't have a "trusted" friend with whom to share their burdens, or their low self-esteem does not allow them to accept themselves as they are. Perhaps they just need love and encouragement! Great write, my friend, as always.

My wife and I are people watchers also.
I have learned that forming opinions about what we really don't understand is futile. Sure ... we can distance ourselves from what we don't understand, but we should not shut it out. People sometimes desperately need prayer and understanding to get through their present crisis. If we could but walk a day day in someone else shoes, we would all understand a lot better and have more compassion.
You are waxing poetic here Joyce, and doing so with wisdom and the love that comes from a relationship with the Most High. Outstanding! Blessings to you. Your friend ...

So true Joyce, in these days of keeping up with the Jones's, driving cars we can't afford, spending money we don't have, trying to make ourselves appear to be something we're not...I see it so often in people I know and those I don't.
